Jay ten Hove-- February 2, 1960 - May 24, 2008

I met Jay as a teenager at summer camp in the wacky 1970’s. He was always up for anything that might be fun.

As J-Hovah 10, he was part of the original GET STUPID team contributing collages with mysterious floating heads, but his great masterpiece wasn’t even originally intended for the mag at all but was a Christmas present to me, the insanely brilliant Do Our Children Control Godzilla? No other Christmas present ever made me laugh so hard!

Jay was a fine musician and we played together in the band Doktors For Utter Stupidity. He worked professionally as a soundman for several bands including his own favorite NRBQ.

Jay threw the best barbeques ever! Seriously. The BEST.

He flattered me by having the questionable taste to own the world's biggest collection of my paintings.

He never really liked the picture of him I used to head his GET STUPID page, a manipulated polaroid. He used to say that it made him look dead. Now that he’s gone, I would like to add this photo showing him very much alive and as those who loved him still see him in their minds.

I miss you bad, buddy.
